I feel sorry for the death of Cris Mendez, a (would have been) graduating Public Ad student from UP Diliman. He was killed due to hazing, I think last week, and until now, the people involved (those who took him to the hospital and the doctor who signed that he died of something else and not due to hazing) are missing in action. I read articles about him, even a blog entry written by his friend, plus I got to view his Friendster Profile, and based from those, Cris seemed a very friendly person, someone who's very approachable and nice. I knew a lot of people mourned. I feel sorry for his family. I read that he lost his father and I'm sure he's being highly relied on to improve his family's way of living. At 20, he's still very young and I know he had lots of plans for himself. That's probably the reason why he decided to join a fraternity. What puzzles me so much is why didn't these intelligent (I'm being sarcastic) fratmen know when to stop the hazing? Though I have never witnessed an actual hazing, I'm sure I can, and anyone can, identify when a person's too weak to proceed with the hazing. What more if you've been hazing thousands of people every year? I can just imagine them still kicking Cris, paddling him continuously, while he lay there, motionless, unresponding. They said that the frat who killed him traces their roots from the UP College of Law.Well, that's law and justice for you. Your own justice, your own law, killing you. Your future leaders, future politicians, future lawyers, future judges...Perfect.
I'm sure nobody in that fraternity will come out and confess or claim responsibility. I know a lot of people who are members of fraternities (including THAT fraternity) and I know that one of the things they swore to their peace-loving brotherhood is to always stand up for each other no matter what. There you go. They are standing up for each other, especially on the no matter what part. Damn, I wonder if these people can ever sleep at night. But wait, forgive me. I'm sure they can, because I'm sure it's not the first time this has happened, and I'm sure that they know that they will eventually get away with this. I just came across their website, and read their motto/slogan/whatever, and it says something about the true test of being a member of their fraternity is not individual greatness, but in not leaving any member in disgrace. That explains it.

I don't really intend to write an entry today because of the many things on my (imaginary) to-do list, but whenever I wake up this early (it's 7:26am on my clock now), I get the urge to write my thoughts, though I must admit that I don't have anything on my thoughts right now but the gazillion of tasks I need to do, and Ruel.
I hope to finish everything before we meet up later (hopefully). I've been craving for Tokyo Tokyo's California Maki and Beef Misono, and we weren't able to meet up yesterday because it was already late in the afternoon when he got off from work and though he was still planning to meet up, I felt that he was already tired and intoxicated from his work so I told him to go home and rest instead.
Anyway, the PC's still non-functional.
I wanted to fix the problem yesterday but I left my laptop bag (would you believe) at the library at work and all my installers are there. I hope I can find time to fix it tomorrow.
On Friday, my groupmates and I will be reporting for our grad class. We were supposed to report last Friday but prof rescheduled, which is REALLY what I want to happen because I came SUPER unprepared for the report and no matter how hard I tried to comprehend the text, I still cannot. This morning, when I woke up, I started RE-reading the text, even those that I wasn't assigned to report on. I'm still unsure about being able to understand the part I'll be reporting because I have yet to reread it.
Help me God.

Classes have been suspended since Wednesday morning, around 9am. It has been raining hard before that but students from the morning classes are already inside their classrooms so we decided to hold classes instead, at least until their drivers or services arrived. We informed parents of students from the afternoon classes that classes have already been suspended from a department (I am unsure which one) but surprisingly, after they've announced suspension, the rain stopped. Yotie's a/c isn't working so not having any rains made it easier for me to go home. Fortunately too, the flood here in our village somehow subsided so the streets were passable, even if there's still water.
They declared suspension of classes yesterday as well, but I think they had it all wrong because it didn't rain all day yesterday. It only started raining last night. They announced suspension of classes for today as well, but this morning, it wasn't raining at all so I thought they'd fail again. But later on it started raining, and hard. And the winds are blowing strong. I think that, despite the weather, people from PAG-ASA and those who announced suspension of classes today, are somehow happy that it's raining hard.
Anyway, Ruel went to our house yesterday. We watched TV, ate lunch together and slouched all day. He went out at around 7.30 pm but went back because he was worried about me being alone in the house. The girls went berserk and Brinkie sort of bit him on the leg. It was a tiny puncture (one) but I was and still am worried to death. He cleaned it with soap, garlic and alcohol.
I love the weather (as long as there's no flood)! I miss Kang Kang Kang (Kaye) and Haze and some of my students, and Ruel (but I miss him all the time anyway), but I'm sure they all appreciate the super LONG vacation we're having now.
Well that's all for now. I will start TRYING HARD to become productive while on vacation.
