17 Again

I spent most of yesterday at home. I played some games on my laptop and slept for at least an hour. Monsie (my housemate) and her close friend Mayanne came to the apartment in the afternoon after their physical check-up. We three went to a Filipino Store in Woodyard for Western Union. I told them I'm hungry so we decided to go to Bowie because I was, again, craving for Chipotle Burrito Bol.

Mayanne and Mona also asked me if I wanted to watch a movie. I said yes, even though I know it was a half-hearted answer. I guess I should try going out and having fun sometimes. I usually keep myself locked up inside my room sleeping, but mostly going online.

They wanted to watch 17 Again. I wanted to watch that too, but I also wanted to see Fast and Furious, although I'm convinced that Tokyo Drift will forever be my fave. But I heart Vin Diesel so I guess it won't be bad.

I put aside my hunger because the next showing of 17 Again was in 10 mins, and the next one one be until around 9 in the evening. I just bough myself a tray of Nachos. Monsie bought us sodas.

The movie was generally good, especially if you find Zac Efron cute! It still has that "High School Musical"-ish side to it. What do you expect? The moment I saw the cheerleaders dancing, I immediately guessed that Zac's going to dance with them. And he did! Anyway, the movie was about going back to the main character's high school life, and he used to be a basketball star player (HS Musical all over again), but he had to choose between getting a varsity scholarship or marrying his pregnant girlfriend. He chose the latter, and since then he's blamed her for whatever misery he's feeling with his life, until his wife has had enough and filed for a divorce. So he wished he could go back to his high school life and make things right. Of course the story line isn't new. I mean if at the middle of the movie, the theater suddenly suffers from a power failure of some sort, you'd still be able to know where the movie's going and how the ending will be. But I have to give credit to Zac, because he acted so well in the movie, and he showed impressive basketball handling skills.

There were also a lot of funny parts. I remember laughing several times. Plus the movie sort of injected moral lessons for teenagers. One other character that caught my attention was Sterling Knight (as Alex), who played the role of Mike O'Donnell's son. He's sooo cute! And I'm not sure if it's just me, but I really loved the relationship he and his dad (when he turned 17 again) showed in the movie. So cool!

Anyway, I'm doing my laundry now. I will catch some sleep later. I'm not sure if I'm going somewhere today, but I wanted to get my week's lesson done at least.

U-Turn

I came home at around 10 last night. Ate Abby and I stayed at work until around 8.30 (though it wasn't obvious because there was still "noon" sun at around 7pm) with Mrs Jenkins because she was helping her input her grades online so they could publish them. The deadline's at 5pm today but I finished mine last Wednesday afternoon.

Anyway, last night, one of my housemates, Heidi, asked me if I could drive her to Largo train station at 5.30 today. I said yes. I'm just so high in spirits with an extra day off so I don't mind driving favors even if I have to wake up early.

Mona, my other housemate, was supposed to come and help with the navigation (she's better at it than I am). I was confident because I didn't bring my GPS and didn't even bother to bring my license since it was like 10mins away from the apartment, and it's so early in the morning!

Unfortunately, Mona thought someone else was coming with me, so she didn't go downstairs with Heidi. I was bothered a bit but I said What the heck, the train station's like 10mins away. So we left. I made a wrong turn which took us to MD214. I was thinking that MD 214 will pass by PG Community College so I told Heidi that when I see the College, I'll know how to get back. We didn't see the college (and it's just now, while I'm typing this, I realized that PGCC isn't in 214 but in 202. Darn!). We kept going North (though I have no idea that we're going North; I just realized it was North when we saw the sign I'll be talking about) and the surroundings were completely UNFAMILIAR! A couple of streets rang a bell, but I wasn't sure if turning to these streets will help, so we kept driving straight, while I purposely avoided the Beltway.

I was thinking of making a u-turn, but I never did make it until probably around 10 minutes of driving, because I saw a sign that had me REALLY make a u-turn:

Almost all stoplights in DC are equipped with speed and red light cameras. I don't have my license with me, I don't have any ID on me, I am in my PJs, I don't even have a bra on (it's okay because I was wearing a thick coat, and who would've thought we'd go as far as DC?)! During the time we were "lost", we passed by at least 2 Metro Stations and I even suggested to drop Heidi off in one of the stations. She thought about it but she made her mind up and told me she'd help me find my way first.

We went back to where we came from, and this time, I was more careful and cautious (here, it really pays off when you read signs). We finally reached the Largo Metro Station. I dropped her off and then went home (I know the way home better than going there). I must say it was quite an experience. I was worried about my license. Back home in the Phils, I always took my license with me wherever I go, simply because I've always kept it inside the car. Now, I keep my license inside my wallet, so when I don't have my wallet, that means I don't have my license.

So there. What a way to start my long weekend! I still need some more sleep though. :)

Yay for the weekend!

I'm still at work now. We don't have work tomorrow so the teachers (county-wide) can have time to submit and publish grades online. I finished mine way ahead of time (Wed afternoon) so I'm like a free person.

Anyway, I'm staying at school longer because I promised Ate Abby (a Filipina coteacher) I'll be dropping her at her home today. She's still busy helping Mrs Jenkins now so I decided to blog for the meantime.

Anyway, when I get home later, I'd like to clean up with a warm shower, bubble myself up with a fragrant shampoo, conditioner (thanks Herbal Essences!) and soap myself with a creamy soap (thanks Dove!). Then I'd smother myself with lotion (thanks VS!) with a fragrance that will put me to a sweet sleep. :)

I cant wait. I still have hangover from the Spring Break and this long weekend will hopefully help me get over it.

Anoop's safe, but he's still in the bottom 3. They used the save on Matt. I know I sound like I'm in a hurry typing these, but I'm really pissed. Anoop did well, and my fellow AnoopTroopers and I voted like crazeh the other night. DialIdol displayed Anoop as 4th. Then they used the SAVE on Matt, which will somehow put Anoop in danger next week because two will have to go. I feel that the show's too unfair to him, considering he's one of the most talented on the show this season. I do not believe in Gokey, Lil or even Kris's talent (he would make a better actor in a chicflick).

I'm a solid Anoop fan, from start to finish. I just wish the judges would stop prioritizing drama.
